Roseridge Waste Management Services Commission does not operate for profit.
Our mandate is to provide economical disposal for our Member Municipalities. Our only source of revenue is disposal fees.
Effective January 1, 2021 Roseridge Commission implemented a minimum weight for all residential loads to the Redwater Transfer Station and the Landfill.
This decision was made for financial reasons:
Our residential disposal rate, for our member municipalities is only $39.27 per tonne for household waste.
On loads 20 – 40 kg, the revenue that Roseridge commission receives is $0.79 - $1.51.
The cost to process each vehicle is highly subsidized.
With the implementation of a minimum weight (125 kg) Roseridge will get $4.91 in revenue for each of these small loads. .
Residents do not have to accumulate their waste and come when they have 125 kg.
All loads 125 kg or less will have 125 kg assessed against their permit with each visit to either the transfer station of the landfill.
Loads of recycling will be charged in the same manner. It costs Roseridge an average of $82.00/t to process recycle materials on our site.
- All loads to the Transfer station were being subsidized 100%. No revenue was coming from that facility to support operations.
- Loads 10 kg at the Landfill would generate $0.39 in revenue. Far less than the actual cost of service
