Roseridge Waste Commission provides safe and responsible disposal for hazardous waste to protect the environment and community health.

Year-Round HSP Disposal – Continuous collection of specific hazardous materials at both of our locations (starting Apr. 1, 2025)

Annual HHW Round-Up Events – Collection events for a wide range of hazardous household materials.

What is Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)?

HHW includes toxic, flammable, or reactive household products that require special disposal. These should never be thrown in the trash, poured down drains, or placed in curbside bins.

Accepted ONLY at HHW Round-Up Events:

Cleaning Chemicals – Bleach, ammonia, disinfectants, drain cleaners (use up whenever possible before disposal).
Pesticides, Herbicides, & Fertilizers
Automotive Fluids – Brake fluid, antifreeze, gasoline, transmission fluid
Pool & Spa Chemicals
Mercury-containing items – Thermometers, thermostats
Glues, Adhesives, & Resins
Fireworks, Flares, & Explosives
Unlabelled or Unknown Chemicals (Label them before drop-off!)

What are Hazardous Special Products (HSP)?

HSP includes specific hazardous materials that can be dropped off year-round at Roseridge. Unlike HHW, HSP does not require a special event for disposal.

Accepted YEAR-ROUND at both Roseridge facilities (Starting Apr. 1, 2025 - only if they have the correct label!)

Consumer Chemicals & Containers (must have a CCCR symbol – see below!)
Corrosive, Flammable, Toxic, & Pesticide Products & Containers
Only products with CCCR labels (octagon or triangle symbols) are accepted year-round

Understanding the Labels: What’s Accepted and When?

Year-Round (HSP Collection at both Roseridge facilities) STARTING APR. 1, 2025

CCCR label – Look for the an octagon or inverted triangle on the container.
These products can be dropped off anytime at Roseridge.

CCCR Icons

Shapes matter: an octagon or inverted triangle on the container is acceptable year round, but a circle or diamond shape may be more hazardous and are only accepted during HHW events.

Only at HHW Events

WHMIS & TDG labels - Look for a red diamond or circle – These products are only accepted during special HHW events.
If the product does not have a CCCR label but has a red diamond or circle, it must wait for a Round-Up Event.

CCCR Hazardous

Important Notes for Residents:

Use up household cleaners when possible before disposal. Many cleaning products are designed to be safely diluted and washed down drains. When finished, recycle the container instead of disposing of unused products.

Check the label! If the product has a CCCR symbol (octagon/triangle) → Drop it off year-round. STARTING APR. 1, 2025

If the product has a red diamond or circle (WHMIS or TDG) → Wait for an HHW Round-Up Event.
