The Transfer Station Attendant will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the waste transfer station and assist residents in properly sorting and disposing of waste materials in a safe and efficient manner.
■ Responsible for the security of the transfer station site, including unlocking and locking the gate and operating any security measures in place.
■ Inspecting all materials being disposed of at the site by the public.
■ Ensuring all refuse hauled to the site is separated into the designated areas.
■ Identify, separate and report any potentially hazardous or prohibited waste dropped off at the station.
■ Inspect the facility each shift for refuse, obstacles, maintenance concerns, etc. Take appropriate action to keep site clean and safe.
■ Greet all residents and ensure they have scanned their residential permits.
■ Keep the transfer station clean, picking up debris, cleaning building and mowing the grass.
■ Maintain and organize all compartments, bins and areas used for the collection of material.
■ Reinforce site rules and regulations with site users.
■ Ensure safety procedures are followed and using appropriate safety equipment during transfer station operations.
■ Must work effectively and efficiently with others and alone with little or no supervision, always be punctual, communicate openly, takes direction well, and responds to public inquiries in a calm and friendly manner. ■ Minimum Grade 12 education
■ Valid Class 5 driver’s license
■ May require lifting and carrying of up to 23kg, shovelling, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, crawling, exposure to outdoor conditions.
