The transition to regional collection is designed to make getting help easier without unnecessarily changing the way residents receive collection service.

Recycling services are not part of the Regional Waste Collection Program. Recycling continues separately under Alberta’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system with pickup on your current collection schedule.

There are also changes coming to organics collection as part of the regional program.
These communities already receive curbside organics collection.
Beginning November 1, 2026, organics collection will increase to bi-weekly pickup from November 1 through April 30.
Weekly organics collection will continue from May through October.
This gives residents more opportunities to divert food scraps and yard material during the fall and winter while helping Roseridge produce useful compost.
If it doesn’t grow, it doesn’t go.
Gibbons and Legal will be part of the Regional Waste Collection Program beginning October 1, 2026. Residents will continue receiving regular garbage collection as part of the new regional service.
Curbside organics collection will be introduced in May 2027.
Your existing waste cart will not get smaller. When organics collection begins, residents will receive a new organics cart that is the same size as the grey waste carts.
More information about cart delivery, accepted materials, collection schedules and the organics rollout will be provided before the May 2027 launch.
PLANNED OVER TIME
Waste collection has traditionally been managed separately by each municipality, while the communities already work together through Roseridge on waste disposal, recycling, organics and other waste diversion programs.
Roseridge and the participating municipalities examined whether managing curbside collection regionally could simplify service, improve coordination and provide residents with more consistent information and support.
That work led to the Regional Waste Collection Program, bringing curbside collection for Bon Accord, Gibbons, Legal, Morinville and Redwater under one regional service beginning October 1.
The program allows the five municipalities to maintain their individual community service needs while using Roseridge to coordinate collection services across the region.
A COORDINATED APPROACH
A regional approach gives residents and municipalities a more coordinated way to manage collection.
The program is intended to provide:
It also provides a foundation for regional programs, including annual Large Item Curbside Pick-Up and broader access to Roseridge waste diversion services.
Regional collection brings five municipalities together
under one coordinated system while keeping the resident experience straightforward.
If your cart is missed, damaged or missing, if you have a collection question,
or if you simply need to know what to do, start with Roseridge.
Regional Waste Collection begins October 1, 2026.
